Mixed City Tournament, 2009

Over 50 Israeli netball players aged 16 years and up gathered on the evening of Sunday 22nd March 2009 in Modi’in, to participate in the first-ever mixed city netball tournament. Players came from around the country to play on the newly-marked netball court at Modi’in, including players from Modi’in, Jerusalem, Ra’anana, Tekoa, Kfar Adumim, Hod Hasharon, Tel Aviv, Tsur Hadassa, Kfar Saba, Givatayim and Herzliya.

As players arrived, each drew a team colour out of a hat, ensuring a mix of players from different communities in each team. The evening then proceeded with a round robin tournament of games among the 6 teams, as well as a final match between the two teams with the most points. The event was run very professionally, with umpires, a scorekeeper and a timekeeper for each game.

Following the netball games, a medal ceremony was held to award the top three teams with their bronze, silver and gold medals.
