Israel Netball Highlights

 

1993 – Netball tournament in 14th Maccabi Games without Israeli team.

1997 – Netball tournament in 15th Maccabi Games.

1999 – Group of players, led by Jodi Carreira, started playing on local basketball court using chalk netball markings. Separate groups established in Jerusalem and Cfar Menachem.

2001/2005/2009/2013/2017 – Junior and Senior teams in 16th/17th/18th/19th/20th Maccabi Games.

2002 and 2004 – Junior team participated in Maccabi Great Britain Youth Games.

2003 – Junior tournament hosted by Israel Netball with teams from South Africa, Dimona and Ra'anana.

2003 – Senior team in Maccabi International Tournament in England.

2005 – Malta: Three participants attended FENA AGM and gained Level 1 coaching certificates; later that year, they gained Level 2 certificates at course held in Israel.

2006 – Participation in Development Division of European Netball Championships held in Wales.

2007 – Israel Netball accepted as associate member of IFNA, and invited to attend IFNA Congress and World Netball Championships held in New Zealand.

2008 – Senior team in European Netball Festival held in Ireland where they achieved first international win.

2008 – Establishment of new netball club in Modi'in.

2009 – Establishment of new netball clubs in Ma'aleh Adumim and Tel Aviv, as well as first netball league season.

2010 – Senior team in European Netball Festival held in Malta.

2011 – Inauguration of indoor netball courts in Tel Aviv and later Modi'in.

2011 – Attendance at International Netball Federation Congress and World Netball Championships held in Singapore.

2012 – Israel Netball accepted as full member of Netball Europe and INF, allowing participation in pre-ranking tournament held in Gibraltar; in 2014 ranked 35th on world netball stage.

2013 – Under-21 team participates in World Youth Netball Championships held in Glasgow, Scotland.

2014 – Israel Netball focuses on umpiring and by the end of the season boasts four new C-Level umpires.

2015 – Attendance at International Netball Federation Congress and World Netball Championships held in Sydney, Australia.

2016 – Participation in Netball Europe Open Challenge Section held in Newcastle, England.

2017 – Participation in Netball Europe Open Challenge Section held in Aberdeen, Scotland.

2018 – Participation in Netball Europe Open Challenge Section held in Gibraltar.

2019 – Participation in Netball Europe Open Challenge Section held in Isle of Man.

2019 – Attendance at International Netball Federation Congress and World Netball Championships held in Liverpool, England.

2019  First Junior League Season and 11th Senior League Season.

2020 – Covid-19 put a stop to many of our activities and we were unable to complete the league season and we didn't compete in the Netball Europe Open Challenge

2021 – We held a mini-league during the summer and recommenced play in September, sometimes with fewer players when Covid continued to prevent full activities.

2022 – Our national team won their first international match against Switzerland in the Europe Netball Open Challenge that was held in the Isle of Man in May. 

2022 – Currently looking forward to holding the netball tournament of the Maccabiah in the summer. For the first time the tournament will include two junior events (U16 and U18) and two senior events (Open and Masters) with teams from Australia, South Africa, Great Britain as well as a senior team from Argentina.
